Football requires strength and resilience. Josh Hoover, a transfer to the Indiana Hoosiers from TCU, demonstrated both during his debut against North Texas.
Unexpected Challenge on the Field
In the second quarter, Hoover experienced a startling moment. North Texas defensive lineman Udoka Ezeani grabbed Hoover’s facemask, twisting it completely to the back of his head. This blatant facemask infraction was hard to ignore. Despite bleeding heavily, Hoover continued to play.
“Welcome to Indiana. He bleeds red,” remarked broadcaster Gus Johnson.
At this point, Fox Big Noon Saturday zoomed in on Hoover’s bloodied face. Despite the physical toll, Hoover’s determination was clear.
A Strong Comeback
Shortly after the incident, Hoover showed remarkable resolve. With blood still visible, he completed a pass to favorite target Charlie Becker for a 9-yard touchdown.
Promising Performance
Despite the harsh start, Hoover’s performance was impressive. He aimed to fill the big shoes of Heisman Trophy winner Fernando Mendoza on a team that recently celebrated a National Championship. By halftime, Hoover had completed 7 of 8 passes for 100 yards and two touchdowns, showcasing a promising start to his tenure with the Hoosiers.
