Yasmine Mohammed endured a challenging past, marked by a forced marriage to an al-Qaeda terrorist. Today, she works to educate others on the dangers of Islamic radicalism.
Mohammed spoke to Fox News Digital about her experiences, recounting how she was compelled to accept abuse from her husband. “I had to accept being beaten by him, being raped by him,” she explained. Her mother offered religious justifications, insisting that as his property, she had no right to protest.
The situation worsened when Mohammed discovered she was pregnant. With a daughter in the picture, the threat of female genital mutilation loomed as her husband planned to take their child to Egypt for the procedure. The need to protect her daughter became paramount, prompting her escape from her husband and mother.
Growing up in a secular Muslim family in Canada, Mohammed experienced a shift when her mother became radicalized. This led to a forced and abusive marriage with Essam Marzouk, an Egyptian terrorist. Despite the challenges, Mohammed emerged as a co-director of the Clarity Coalition and author of the book “Unveiled.”
Mohammed reflected on her ex-husband’s upbringing in Egypt, emphasizing the impact of class struggles on his life. His attempt to fit into a higher social status eventually resulted in exposure to radical ideologies. She remarked that similar patterns of radicalization have infiltrated Ivy League universities in the United States, fueled by foreign funding, particularly from Qatar.
Through sharing her story, Yasmine Mohammed aims to raise awareness about the dangers of radical beliefs and their infiltration in educational institutions.
