Las Vegas often sparks hope, and this year, the Raiders are embracing optimism as they enter a new phase. The team aims to break free from constant rebuilding and herald a fresh era in Sin City.
2025 Season Recap
The Raiders faced a challenging 2025 season, finishing last in their division with a 3–14 record. This poor performance granted them the No. 1 overall draft pick. However, not all was bleak. Tight end Brock Bowers and pass rusher Maxx Crosby showcased Pro Bowl-level talent, keeping games engaging. Despite their efforts, Las Vegas struggled offensively, scoring just 241 points, the lowest in the NFL. Problems such as turnover issues, poor road performance, and inconsistent quarterback play led to the dismissal of head coach Pete Carroll.
Offseason Changes
In response to offensive struggles, Las Vegas appointed Klint Kubiak, former offensive coordinator for the Seahawks and Vikings, as head coach. Kubiak brings success and aims to revitalize a talent-rich offense. The team reshaped the quarterback lineup significantly. They signed four-time Pro Bowler Kirk Cousins and drafted first-round pick Fernando Mendoza, parting ways with Garner Minshew. Cousins’ experience is expected to stabilize the team.
Team Roster and Strategy
Offensively, the Raiders anticipate improved stability with Cousins supported by a fortified interior offensive line. Brock Bowers remains crucial, alongside Michael Mayer and Tre Tucker. Mendoza develops behind the scenes as Ashton Jeanty aims to make a significant impact.
Defensively, Maxx Crosby leads the pass rush, complemented by Kwity Paye upfront. An improved linebacking squad features Quay Walker and Nakobe Dean. With Taron Johnson enhancing the secondary, defensive efficiency is likely to improve.
Season Betting Outlook
Expect the Raiders to show progress compared to last season. Attaining playoff status remains uncertain, given the competitive division comprising the Denver Broncos, Los Angeles Chargers, and Kansas City Chiefs. But progress is evident.
Reaching 5.5 wins is debatable. Kirk Cousins’ previous struggles in Atlanta resemble challenges he faces with the Raiders. Yet, Klint Kubiak’s coaching is promising, with Fernando Mendoza ready to step up if Cousins falters.
Ashton Jeanty is poised for a productive year. Last season, Jeanty scored five rushing touchdowns. Enhanced quarterback play and strategy could lead to over 7.5 touchdowns and exceed 974.5 rushing yards, surpassing previous performance on a weaker team. The Raiders’ tendency to trail might impact this, yet Kubiak’s approach may provide more opportunities.
