Actor William Fichtner, known for his role in ‘Prison Break,’ is selective when choosing projects. At 69, he has never regretted declining a role, even if it meant passing on potential success. He revealed to Fox News Digital that he prioritizes belief in a project and boundaries over acceptance of all roles.
Fichtner stated, ‘If I didn’t believe in it, and there are certain lines I just don’t cross, then I fear not doing justice to the role.’ He emphasized that he’s turned down lucrative jobs without regret, often deciding quickly upon reading the script whether it’s a fit.
‘My wife often asks, ‘You like it, right?’ But sometimes, I have to admit, ‘It’s in the garbage, honey,’ he shared.
Fichtner recently played Wayne Whittaker in the Apple TV miniseries ‘Lucky,’ which concluded with the episode ‘All Good Things’ on August 19. The series features Anya Taylor-Joy as Luciana ‘Lucky’ Armstrong, a former criminal trying to end her unlawful activities for good.
Discussing the show’s finale, Fichtner praised Taylor-Joy’s performance during their intense scenes. Filming in the high desert amongst oil rigs added to the episode’s intensity. He commented, ‘She was not backing down and threw unexpected challenges my way.’
Reflecting on his career, Fichtner highlighted his experience on ‘Prison Break,’ contrasting it with his work on limited series like ‘Lucky.’ ‘In ‘Prison Break,’ you often don’t know the path your character will take next until the last minute,’ he said. ‘With a limited series, you see the character’s full arc ahead.’
