Larry Birkhead Celebrates Daughter’s Birthday with Special Photos

Larry Birkhead marked his daughter’s 20th birthday in a unique way. On September 7, Birkhead shared a collection of rare photos of Dannielynn on Instagram. Accompanying the post was the song Happy Birthday by Lenny Kravitz, with the touching message, ‘Happy 20th Birthday Dannielynn!❤️ Love, Dad ❤️.’

The video collage included both recent and childhood photos of Dannielynn. The first image captured her sitting on steps in a stylish black outfit complemented by black sunglasses. Another photo showed her smiling with short red hair. The video then shifted to her earlier years, featuring a young Dannielynn in a one-piece swimsuit, beaming brightly.

The final image in the slideshow depicted Dannielynn in a pink tutu, joyfully hugging her father. Comments poured in from Instagram users, expressing disbelief at how fast time has passed. One user said, ‘How in the world is she 20 already? We can’t be getting old, we are still young.’

Another commented, ‘Happy 20th Birthday! I feel so old. lol.’

Dannielynn’s mother, the late Anna Nicole Smith, met Larry at the Kentucky Derby in 2004. They welcomed Dannielynn in 2006, and following Smith’s death in 2007, Larry became her main caregiver, choosing to raise her mostly away from public attention.

Despite preferring a private upbringing for Dannielynn, Larry and his daughter have maintained a yearly tradition of attending the Kentucky Derby, a nod to the event where he first met Smith. Since Dannielynn was three, they have attended the Derby annually.

In a conversation with Fox News Digital, Birkhead explained that their attendance at the event is a way to honor the past and create new memories. He remarked, ‘It’s kind of been a tradition that we would go every year. That’s where I met Anna Nicole Smith. And it’s something that I’ve taken my daughter back every year since. She’s old enough to kind of understand what it is.’

He continued, ‘Initially, it was about taking her back to where I met her mom, and sharing stories about our meeting there. Over time, people began to expect to see my daughter at the Derby, since she doesn’t usually attend public events. The Kentucky Derby became a kind of growth chart for Dannielynn.’
