The creators of “South Park,” Trey Parker and Matt Stone, have taken aim at President Donald Trump’s decision to rename Lake Ontario as Lake America. They released a satirical statement about Apple Maps and Google Maps complying with the change.
The statement humorously noted, “Inspired by the bravery and patriotism of Apple and Google, we are changing the name of South Park to SOUTH AMERICA. We especially want to thank our parent company Paramount — a Skydance Capitulation.” This statement was shared following the show’s Emmy win for Outstanding Animated Program for their 27th season premiere, which aired in 2025.
The satirical episode featured Trump alongside Satan, alluding to Trump’s alleged cover-up involving Jeffrey Epstein. The episode also spoofed Trump’s settlement with CBS’s parent company, Paramount Global. Paramount had inked a $1.5 billion deal to stream “South Park” on Paramount+ in 2025.
Fox News Digital has reached out to the White House, Apple, Google, and Paramount for their comments. The renaming executive order was signed by Trump amid tensions in trade agreements between the U.S. and Canada.
The order claimed, “The United States is the greatest protector of the Great Lakes, including the body of water currently known as Lake Ontario.” It emphasized the role of U.S. security and investment in maintaining this freshwater system.
Following this, both Apple Maps and Google Maps updated their services to label Lake Ontario as Lake America based on Trump’s directive. Google mentioned that U.S. users would see “Lake America,” Canadian users “Lake Ontario,” and users from other countries would see both. Apple planned to make similar adjustments.
Previously, similar changes were made after Trump’s order to rename the Gulf of Mexico to the “Gulf of America” in 2025.
