Rep. Chip Roy Discusses GOP Achievements and Future Plans

Rep. Chip Roy from Texas shared his views on the Republican Party’s achievements and future objectives as he nears the end of his term in the U.S. House of Representatives. Despite his loss in the Texas GOP attorney general primary runoff, Roy remains optimistic about the party’s progress.

In an interview with Fox News Digital, Roy stated that Republicans have achieved a lot, particularly with policy measures like tax provisions in the ‘Big Beautiful Bill.’ This bill, signed by President Donald Trump last year, has been a significant achievement for the party, according to Roy.

Roy emphasized the Republican-led efforts at the nation’s border as a standout success. He claimed that the enforcement of laws has effectively reduced illegal crossings. Another legislative accomplishment he mentioned was the passage of the ‘Laken Riley Act.’ This measure honors a woman murdered by an individual who had previously entered the U.S. illegally and was released by authorities.

“Have we done everything we should do? No,” Roy noted, acknowledging that Congress had not completed all its tasks.

Roy expressed confidence that Republicans could maintain control of both the Senate and the House during the midterms. He believes that concerted efforts are essential for electoral success, especially with an eye toward future elections in 2028.

As the House approaches a work break before the upcoming elections, Roy urged Republicans to return ready to finish their legislative goals. He reflected on potential actions, including considerations for future reconciliation packages and efforts during the lame-duck period or in the new year, when he will no longer be in office.

On social issues, Roy critiqued the idea of government intervention in childcare. A recent proposal, reported by The New York Times, could allow a stay-at-home parent to receive federal childcare subsidies, which Roy views as intrusive. He expressed that independence is vital for America’s greatness, discouraging dependency on government funds.

A statement from the White House clarified that no such policy has been announced.

Regarding his political future, Roy mentioned that his potential return to office depends on divine guidance and the desires of Texans. His focus remains on addressing significant problems facing the nation.
