President Donald Trump plans to mark the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks at the Pentagon. He will honor the victims and first responders who lost their lives on that day. According to Anna Kelly, White House principal deputy press secretary, Trump, a proud New Yorker, has often spoken about witnessing the tragic events of September 11, 2001.
On this significant anniversary, Trump intends to remember those who died due to the terrorist attacks. He will also honor their families and pay tribute to the courageous first responders who risked their lives to help their fellow citizens.
Trump’s participation in the commemoration includes a 9/11 remembrance ceremony at the Pentagon. Vice President JD Vance will honor the event in New York at the World Trade Center site. Other officials from the administration will gather in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, ensuring a White House presence at all three locations linked to the attacks.
Notable figures such as former Presidents Barack Obama, George W. Bush, and Bill Clinton, along with former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, will join Vance in New York for the remembrance ceremony.
In past years, Trump and first lady Melania Trump attended the Pentagon commemoration. They issued a Patriot Day proclamation urging flags to be flown at half-staff. Trump also participated in a Yankees-Tigers game in New York City, featuring tributes to the victims.
During his previous term, Trump attended memorials at the Pentagon in 2017 and 2019. In 2018 and 2020, he attended ceremonies at the Flight 93 National Memorial in Shanksville.
Trump, a real-estate developer in New York at the time of the attacks, witnessed the events first-hand. He recalled watching the explosion from his office in a phone interview with WWOR-TV channel 9 on that tragic day.
The Tunnel to Towers Foundation recently brought its “Steel Across America” tour to Trump’s doorstep at the White House. They displayed a 21-foot, 16,900-pound steel beam from the World Trade Center’s South Tower. This beam serves as a memorial to the 9/11 victims and first responders, visiting 21 states in pop-up events.
