Mackenzie Phillips has reflected on how her past life has changed. At 66, she shared on Valerie Bertinelli’s “Getting Naked” podcast that she often feels exhausted after busy days. She noted the need for solitude to recharge, admitting she has chosen celibacy for 15 years. “I had to be alone to recharge,” she stated, according to People.
Phillips acknowledged that she has had enough intimate experiences in her life, adding that she prefers to care for herself. Valerie Bertinelli supported her, sharing experiences of her own “periods of celibacy.” She noted she hasn’t been physically intimate for almost two years.
Phillips’ past relationships include her marriage to music manager Jeff Sessler, which ended in 1981, and a 14-year marriage to guitarist Shane Fontayne, ending in 2000. Her third marriage to Keith Levenson also ended in divorce in 2007.
This lifestyle choice is seen in Hollywood, with Sharon Stone also choosing celibacy. On “Mayim Bialik’s Breakdown” podcast, Stone shared experiences with past relationships and highlighted that she’s looking for companionship rather than casual flings. “I’m in the no luck at all phase,” she admitted.
Stone was first married to producer Michael Greenburg for six years, ending in 1990, and later to journalist Phil Bronstein from 1998 to 2004. “I don’t think I’ve had the great love of my life,” Stone reflected.
Teri Hatcher also shared her decision to remain single. In HELLO!, she mentioned she hasn’t gone on a date in seven years. “I’m so single,” she confessed, highlighting her strong friendships and community.
