Aaron Rodgers recently spoke about the end of his relationship with Shailene Woodley. The Green Bay Packers quarterback shared his thoughts during a podcast episode with Cam Heyward. Rodgers, aged 42, reflected on their engagement and what led to their separation.
Rodgers and Woodley met during the COVID-19 pandemic, quickly moving in together. In 2021, Rodgers announced their engagement. However, their relationship ended about a year later. Rodgers stated, “I date Shailene, I propose, and she says yes.” He mentioned that Woodley expressed doubts later, allegedly saying she needed to be with someone else before marriage. Rodgers pointed out that she took off the ring by March.
Rodgers also remarked that reconciliation attempts were unsuccessful. He claimed, “There wasn’t even a relationship in ’22 to break off.” He added that Woodley explicitly said she didn’t want to continue with him. Reflecting on his past relationships, he commented, “The height of their fame was when they were with me.”
Shailene Woodley’s representatives haven’t responded to these comments, but she addressed their breakup in a 2022 interview with Outside magazine. She described the relationship’s end as emotionally challenging, stating, “I haven’t shared much about my relationship with Aaron because it always makes me cry. It was not right. But it was beautiful.” Woodley mentioned experiencing significant depression in early 2022 due to traumatic events, without naming Rodgers.
