A 33-year-old man has died following a fatal encounter in the West Pullman neighborhood. The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon, as reported by authorities.
According to the Chicago police, the man was involved in a verbal altercation that escalated into a physical fight. The situation took place around 4:30 p.m. on the 11500 block of South Halsted Avenue when the man engaged in an argument with a group of individuals. During this exchange, he was shot in the chest.
The victim was quickly transported to Roseland Community Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The Cook County medical examiner’s office later identified the deceased as Davion L. Jackson, who resided in Chicago’s Chicago Lawn neighborhood. An autopsy has been scheduled for Sunday to determine the exact cause of death.
Currently, police have not identified any suspects. Calumet Area detectives are actively investigating the case in pursuit of leads.
