Chicago police are investigating the death of a 1-year-old girl in the West Ridge neighborhood. The child was discovered unresponsive with visible injuries on her lower body at a home on the 2600 block of West Rosemont Avenue around 11:40 a.m., as reported by the police.
The child was transported to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, where she was later pronounced dead. The Cook County medical examiner’s office identified the child as Maombi Joyeuse. An autopsy is planned for Sunday to determine further details regarding the cause of death.
The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services has not provided specific information about the case. However, the agency has stated it will collaborate with police to investigate following the autopsy results.
