Emmy voters honored Rob Reiner with the award for best guest actor in a comedy series for his role on “The Bear.” This accolade comes nearly a year after Reiner’s passing. He had previously won an Emmy for his supporting role on “All in the Family” nearly 48 years ago, marking the longest gap between two acting wins in Television Academy history. His record surpasses that of his father, Carl Reiner.
In “The Bear,” a show centered around the frenetic world of food, Reiner played Albert Schnurr, a restaurant consultant. The announcement of his win occurred during the Creative Arts Emmy ceremony on September 6. Wendi McLendon-Covey, from ABC’s “The Goldbergs,” accepted the award on Reiner’s behalf while the audience gave a standing ovation.
Reiner is the first performer to achieve a posthumous Emmy for an on-camera role since Raúl Juliá in 1995 for “The Burning Season.” Tragically, Reiner and his wife Michele Singer Reiner were killed at their Los Angeles home in December.
