Riot Fest altered its plans to end earlier on Saturday due to forecasts predicting storms in the Chicago area. Organizers announced the decision at around 3:30 p.m., emphasizing their collaboration with the City of Chicago. They highlighted the importance of prioritizing safety for fans, bands, and staff. As such, Riot Fest opted to close early in response to the inclement weather.
Attendees were advised to check official Riot Fest social media channels and riotfest.org for the most up-to-date schedule and any further changes. Organizers encouraged fans to stay safe and remain informed about additional updates.
Despite the announcement, many fans in the park experienced delays in receiving the news due to limited cell service. The updated schedule reallocated some performances to shorter, 20-minute slots. Unfortunately, the much-anticipated performance by Afroman was canceled. The festival aimed to wrap up around 7 p.m., featuring Tool in the headlining slot at 6 p.m.
Sugar’s Bob Mould, as he concluded his set, humorously remarked, “Who knows who’s up next!” This light-hearted comment reflected the changing circumstances.
At the moment, plans for the Sunday schedule remain unchanged.
