Mississippi Grand Jury Finds No Criminal Wrongdoing in Teen’s Death

A grand jury in Mississippi concluded that there was no criminal activity involved in the tragic death of Nolan Xavier Wells, an 18-year-old teenager. Wells died during a boat trip over the July 4 holiday. Concerns had arisen regarding the level of investigation conducted by Mississippi authorities into his death.

The jury, made up of 23 members in Jackson County, reviewed the case. They found no evidence suggesting Wells was involved in any physical altercations or disputes during his visit to Horn Island. Further, the grand jury’s report indicated that Wells decided to stay on the barrier island after the boat he had traveled on left the area.

Wells’s death caught public attention, raising questions about whether the investigation was thorough. This recent decision concludes the legal review of the tragic incident, stating no wrongdoing occurred.
