The Chicago Bears received positive news on Monday as quarterback Caleb Williams escaped a significant injury scare. According to a source from OutKick, Williams has a strained hamstring injury but is not expected to miss much time following Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Vikings.
Williams sustained a Grade 1 hamstring strain during the fourth quarter of the game at Soldier Field in Chicago. As a result, he may be sidelined for one to three weeks to focus on rehabilitation. Bears coach Ben Johnson, speaking on ESPN1000 in Chicago, mentioned that Williams is considered “week-to-week.” Although the Bears have not completely ruled out Williams for next Monday’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles, such an outcome is viewed as “very optimistic” by the source.
The primary concern was a potential full detachment of the hamstring, but thankfully, Williams avoided this scenario. The injury occurred when Williams fell untouched during a scramble, startling many fans. Despite the initial fear, his hamstring remains intact and structurally sound.
Initially, the severity of the incident seemed significant, as Williams was heard screaming on the field and was carted off. However, with past experiences in dealing with hamstring injuries, he is set to commence a rehabilitation regimen as early as Monday.
In the games where Williams is unable to play, the Bears will rely on backup quarterback Tyson Bagent. Coach Johnson confirmed this plan after Sunday’s game.
