Chicago White Sox Energized by Supportive Fans in ALDS

First baseman Munetaka Murakami believes the enthusiastic home crowds at Rate Field have fueled the Chicago White Sox. “The fans have been extremely supportive all year,” Murakami expressed through an interpreter. “Their loud cheers provide motivation. I’m glad they’re backing the team.”

The Sox anticipate energetic fans on Wednesday for Game 3 of the American League Division Series against the Cleveland Guardians, marking their first home game this postseason. Manager Will Venable said, “Our team’s enthusiasm is key. It comes from players playing hard and is powered by our fans.”

Reliever Grant Taylor echoed this excitement. “I’m eager to see what the crowd brings. It’s time we delivered some postseason baseball,” he said. Coming home with a 2-0 lead in the best-of-five series, the team is optimistic. General manager Chris Getz added, “Our fans have shown unwavering support, and our players respond well to that.”

As highlighted by Sarah Langs of MLB.com, Game 3 will be just the second time in franchise history the Sox have a home game with a chance to clinch a postseason series, the first being in the 1906 World Series.

Sean Newcomb will start for Game 3. Pitcher Sean Newcomb relieved early in Game 2, striking out three over two innings after a difficult start. “His sharp performance gave us confidence,” Venable stated. The manager hinted at potential fresh arms in the game.

Daniel Espino will start for the Guardians.

Grant Taylor prepared for Game 2 by focusing on recovery. After securing the save in Game 1, he took measures to ensure he was ready again. “I rested, got a massage, stayed hydrated, and ensured my arm was prepared,” Taylor shared.

Murakami praised the cohesive team effort in the series. He contributed a two-run home run in Game 1 and an RBI single in Game 2. “The lineup delivers, from batting to pitching,” he noted. The unity within the team, according to Murakami, is vital to their success, as they aim in one direction in this stretch of the playoffs.
