Trump Open to Fetterman Joining GOP

Former President Donald Trump expressed his support for Senator John Fetterman, a Democrat from Pennsylvania, praising him as a “great guy” and welcoming the idea of him switching to the Republican Party.

Trump spoke to the media after disembarking Air Force One at Joint Base Andrews. He addressed the prospect of Fetterman joining the Republican Party, noting Fetterman’s past disagreements with Democratic policies in Congress.

I’d love to see it. I think he’s great, Trump said. It’s going to be hard for him to get the nomination as a Democrat, but I’d love to have him as a Republican.

Trump praised Fetterman’s character, stating he is a solid person with smart and common-sense judgment. He also suggested that Fetterman might perform better in polls as a Republican than as a Democrat.

Senator Fetterman, while predominantly aligning with Democratic votes, has taken differing stances on significant issues such as the Iran war and immigration. Reports indicate he votes with the Democratic Party nearly 81% of the time in the current session, a decrease from previous periods.

Fetterman’s actions have fueled discussions about a potential party switch. He utilizes Republican fundraising platforms, maintains friendships with GOP members like Senator Katie Britt of Alabama, and appeared at the Republican Midterm Convention introducing Senator Dave McCormick.

Doubts about his future political allegiance grew after Fetterman mistakenly identified as a lifelong Republican during an event appearance, later correcting himself with humor.

Fox News Digital has sought comments from Fetterman’s office on this development.
