President Donald Trump posted two controversial videos on Truth Social, depicting big cats attacking people. One of these videos appeared to show Saturday’s tiger attack at Yorkshire Wildlife Park in northern England. The video, lasting 41 seconds, captured a tiger attacking a man inside an enclosure, identified as William Chapman. However, it did not show the fatal moment. Trump added the caption, “Don’t ever mess with nature! President DJT.”
A few minutes later, another 24-second video was shared. It showed a compilation of big cat attacks accompanied by music, without a caption. The authenticity of the footage remains unclear, with some speculating it may include AI-generated content.
These posts were also linked to the White House’s Rapid Response account. When contacted for a comment, the White House directed Newsweek to the Truth Social posts. Trump has been known for sharing unusual videos and AI-generated content online. Previous postings included an AI vision of Gaza as a resort and a video presenting him as “King Trump.”
“I have no idea why Trump’s Truth Social account has posted multiple videos of people getting mauled by animals. Either he’s been hacked or [White House aide] Natalie Harp is sending some kind of message.” — Ron Filipkowski, former federal prosecutor
The videos sparked confusion and criticism on social media. Ron Filipkowski commented on X, expressing uncertainty over the posts’ intent. Vanity Fair correspondent Aiden McLaughlin criticized by referring to the videos as “lion snuff films.” Lawyer Aaron Parnas also called it bizarre and concerning.
However, not all feedback was negative. Some supporters viewed the posts as a warning about respecting nature. Ryan Fournier, Students for Trump founder, declared on X that Trump’s message was clear: Respect the danger of wild animals.
