The American League Championship Series (ALCS) remains fiercely competitive as the Tampa Bay Rays and Cleveland Guardians each seek advancement. The series currently stands tied at 2-2 after the Rays claimed a 7-3 victory in Game 4.
In the early stages of the game, the Guardians took an initial lead when Chase DeLauter drove in Steven Kwan with an RBI single. However, the Guardians’ offensive efforts were largely subdued following this moment.
The Rays quickly responded in the third inning. With two outs, Yandy Diaz doubled, and Jonathan Aranda hit an RBI single to level the score.
During the sixth inning, Junior Caminero propelled the Rays ahead with an RBI double, positioning Tampa Bay with a 2-1 lead. Despite having runners on base, the Rays were unable to extend their score further during that inning.
In the ensuing frame, the Rays capitalized on a promising position with runners on second and third. Aranda drove two runs in, expanding the lead to 4-1. He later scored on a sacrifice fly, contributing further to the score.
Though Cleveland cut the deficit in half later in the game and brought the lead run to the plate, they could not fully leverage the opportunity. In the ninth inning, Diaz added significant insurance with a two-out, two-run home run.
Rays’ All-Star closer, Bryan Baker, comfortably sealed the win. After allowing a leadoff single, he managed a double play and struck out Angel Martinez, concluding the game.
Notably, no team has won consecutive games in this series. Weather conditions delayed Game 4, pushing it and Game 5 back by a day. Game 5 is scheduled for Sunday at 5:08 p.m. ET, while Game 6 will proceed as planned on Monday without additional rest days. Both teams remain committed to securing the ALCS title.
