Ricki Lake, known for her television career and outspoken personality, recently shed light on her experience with having a facelift in 2024. At the age of 58, Lake decided to undergo this procedure following significant weight loss. She shared her insights during her appearance on ‘The Weekend View,’ where she co-hosted an episode and detailed her journey.
Lake noted that her motivation for the facelift was not to reverse her age or appear younger. Rather, it was a step she took after losing 40 pounds naturally, without pharmaceuticals. She embraced her gray hair and celebrated the age and stage of life she was in, emphasizing self-acceptance.
Despite her satisfaction with the outcome, Lake revealed that not everyone supported her decision. She felt a bit judged by her friend Rosie O’Donnell, who initially questioned Lake’s choice. O’Donnell, who Lake considers a ‘very good friend,’ expressed skepticism regarding the necessity of cosmetic surgery.
Interestingly, O’Donnell later underwent similar surgery herself after losing weight. She shared this experience in a Substack post in May, reconsidering her previous stance against facelifts, which she had seen as antithetical to feminism and aging naturally. After shedding 50 pounds, O’Donnell’s perspective shifted, acknowledging the effects of gravity on her appearance.
During ‘The View,’ Lake elaborated on her specific facelift procedures. She opted not to alter her eyes, choosing instead a deep-plane lower face and neck lift, coupled with a CO2 laser treatment. Expressing contentment with the results, Lake praised her doctor, Alan Foulad, based in Los Angeles, for his expertise.
Sharing her journey further, Lake recounted her initial decision-making process on the ‘Inside Edit’ podcast in March. She described the choice as impulsive, without prior research, swiftly booking a surgery date after her consultation.
Lake explained the reasoning behind her facelift, stating it addressed aesthetic concerns following weight loss. It was not about pursuing a youthful appearance but removing excess skin that remained after her significant weight transition.
