Chris Pratt, a renowned Hollywood action star, shared his remarkable journey to fame in a recent social media post. Before rising to prominence, Pratt lived in a van in Hawaii and worked as a waiter at Bubba Gump Shrimp Company.
In his post, Pratt recounted a life-changing encounter with Rae Dawn Chong at the restaurant. He approached her, recognizing her as a movie star, and expressed his desire to act. Pratt, without a phone, provided Chong with his friend Mike’s contact number.
Chong’s call marked a pivotal moment. Pratt received a script and eagerly absorbed its contents at Mike’s house. His character, Devon, seemed fitting. Chong later affirmed his talent and offered him the role.
Pratt faced challenges as filming occurred in Los Angeles and he had limited resources. Despite having only $60, a bag of clothes, and rollerblades, Chong facilitated his travel to Los Angeles for production.
“I remember thinking right then and there, my life just changed forever. I’m going to be an actor,” he said.
“Cursed Part 3” served as Pratt’s entry to Hollywood. He expressed gratitude to Chong for taking a chance on him.
Pratt’s career evolved significantly. He secured a breakout role as Andy Dwyer in NBC’s “Parks and Recreation” and became Marvel’s Star-Lord in “Guardians of the Galaxy.” His filmography expanded with appearances in the “Avengers” movies.
Pratt attributes his success with Marvel to director James Gunn, acknowledging the transformative impact on his career and life.
Pratt’s extensive work includes leading roles in the “Jurassic World” franchise and voice acting in “The Lego Movie,” “The Super Mario Bros. Movie,” and more. He has also appeared in hit series like “The Terminal List.”
