Former Disney star Maitland Ward expressed dissatisfaction with the depiction of an OnlyFans model by Sydney Sweeney in season three of ‘Euphoria’ during an interview with TMZ. The 49-year-old, known for her role in ‘Boy Meets World’ and current work in adult films and OnlyFans, criticized the portrayal of Cassie, Sweeney’s character, on the platform. She particularly objected to scenes where Cassie is shown with a pacifier, styled with pigtails, and dressed in sheer clothing while holding her legs apart.
Ward stated, “There’s all sorts of stuff that you can’t do. The whole child-baby thing is so disgusting … You just can’t go into that whole underage thing like that. I mean, you can do it to an extent if it’s very, very playful, like, you’re an adult being childlike or something. But just the way it was handled was so gross, and it’s just disgusting and vile.” She emphasized that these scenes violated OnlyFans guidelines, which aim to prevent any association with pedophilia in adult content. Breaches of these rules can result in removal from the platform.
In season three of ‘Euphoria’, Cassie turns to OnlyFans initially to pay for a wedding and later to support herself after discovering her husband, Nate Jacobs, portrayed by Jacob Elordi, is financially insolvent. Additional scenes feature Cassie behaving like a dog, sipping water from a doggy bowl, and performing for her subscribers in revealing outfits. Viewers also see her engaging in explicit activities, like using a sex toy and sending used underwear to subscribers.
Maitland Ward disapproved of the depiction of OnlyFans in the series, stating that the show mocks creators rather than appreciating them. She remarked, “It’s saying how weird and creepy they are. There’s so many creators who are really working hard to build their brands every day, and this is really disingenuous.”
Ward further elaborated in a statement to Fox News Digital, criticizing the show’s portrayal of OnlyFans creators. She underscored that ‘Euphoria’ reduces sex work to a spectacle, reinforcing harmful stereotypes about sex workers. Ward said, “Sydney Sweeney’s portrayal of an OnlyFans creator is setting sex workers real individuals with lives, families, and jobs back by making a mockery not only of what they choose to do with their bodies and lives, but of them as human beings.”
Ward reflected on her time as a young actress in shows like ‘The Bold and the Beautiful’ and ‘Boy Meets World’. She shared her experience of feeling like a product crafted to suit audience expectations. Ward revealed, “I think it was such a factory kind of environment. Like you were just a product being sold, and you knew that yourself.”
Ward transitioned to adult films approximately seven years ago. In a previous interview in March 2025, she mentioned receiving respect within Hollywood after that change. “I didn’t get anybody coming out hating me for it or anything,” she remarked about her switch to adult entertainment. “I really got a lot of positivity overall, which shocked everyone I knew.”
