Thekla Retains AEW Women’s World Championship at Double or Nothing

The AEW Women’s World Champion, Thekla, managed to hold onto her title in a tough four-way match at Double or Nothing. The event took place in Queens, New York, where Thekla faced Jamie Hayter, Kris Statlander, and Hikaru Shida. As the bell rang, her opponents focused their efforts on her, earning her nickname ‘Toxic Spider’ as they attempted to corner her.

Initially, Statlander and Shida seemed to form an alliance, but it soon crumbled. Shida interrupted Statlander’s pin attempt using a kendo stick, leading to a confrontation. The two tag team partners turned on each other, breaking their temporary truce.

Thekla wisely waited for the opportune moment to make her move. With Hayter and Shida outside the ring after a failed double clothesline attempt, Thekla seized the chance. She faced Statlander, who was left vulnerable. Executing a forceful stomp, Thekla pinned Statlander to successfully defend her title.

The Austrian wrestler claimed her championship from Statlander in February during the ‘Dynamite’ event. She has since defended the title six times, showcasing her skills and determination.

In the post-match discussion, Thekla mentioned her interest in the Owen Hart Women’s Tournament. She showed support for her teammate, Skye Blue, hoping for her victory in the competition.
