President Trump’s Medical Checkup Schedule at Walter Reed

President Donald Trump is scheduled for a medical checkup on Tuesday, marking his third visit to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center within a year. The White House announced this annual dental and health checkup earlier in May. Officials referred to a May 11 statement when contacted by Newsweek.

Throughout his term, Trump frequently questioned the health of his predecessor, President Joe Biden. Since returning to office in January 2025, Trump has also faced inquiries about his own health. Despite official assertions of his excellent health, some medical experts express skepticism about the near-80-year-old president’s condition.

April 11, 2025: First Physical of Second Term

Shortly after resuming office last year, Trump had his annual physical exam at Walter Reed. The exam lasted about five hours and included bloodwork, cardiac testing, CT scans, and ultrasounds. A neurological and cognitive screening was also performed, which Trump claims to have passed successfully. The president has advocated for all presidents to undergo such testing.

The White House declared him to be in “excellent health” and fully capable of serving. Despite this detailed report, presidents often control what information is released, leaving some gaps. The cognitive test led to further discussions about Trump’s mental health.

In July, Trump had a comprehensive medical evaluation following swelling in his lower legs and ankles, along with visible bruising on his hands. This unscheduled visit raised questions, particularly because the details were only released after viral photos emerged. Some Democrats and medical professionals questioned why this information wasn’t made public sooner.

October 10, 2025: ‘Semiannual’ Follow-up Visit

In October, Trump visited Walter Reed once more for what was called a routine checkup, despite having a physical in April. He referred to it as a “semiannual” visit. This included routine tests, an MRI scan, and lab tests. The White House did not fully disclose the purpose of the exam.

May 2026 Visit: What To Know

The upcoming visit is expected to be routine according to the White House’s May announcement. “This will include the President’s routine annual dental and medical assessments as part of his regular preventive health care,” the statement read. “The President will also engage with service members and staff at Walter Reed in recognition of their service, professionalism, and dedication to the nation.”

While the visit might be routine, it is anticipated to draw scrutiny from both critics and supporters, who will analyze what the White House reveals about the examinations and potential treatments involved.
