The American Music Awards kick off the unofficial start of summer, showcasing top musical talent with performances from notable artists like Billy Idol, Keith Urban, and Teyana Taylor. Catch the live event on CBS and stream on Paramount+ at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.
Known as the largest fan-voted awards show, the AMAs allow fans to vote online or on Instagram for social song of the year and tour of the year during the first half hour of the event. Queen Latifah returns as host, having previously co-hosted in 1995.
Taylor Swift leads the nominations with eight, following her release “The Life of a Showgirl.” The album is nominated for album of the year and best pop album. Songs “The Fate of Ophelia” and “Elizabeth Taylor” also received several nominations, including song of the year. Swift, already a record-holder with 40 wins, is up for artist of the year and best female pop artist.
Also making waves with seven nominations each are Morgan Wallen, Olivia Dean, Sabrina Carpenter, and Sombr. Billy Idol, a celebrated artist known for hits like “White Wedding,” will receive a lifetime achievement award and perform during the show.
Keith Urban is set to entertain attendees with a track from his upcoming album “Flow State,” while Teyana Taylor will showcase her musical prowess. Joining the lineup are groups such as Hootie and the Blowfish, New Kids on the Block, and The Pussycat Dolls. K-pop sensations BTS will make a special appearance following their return from military service, performing at an awards event for the first time in four years.
