A crowd gathered near Gracie Mansion on the Upper East Side of Manhattan to protest against New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani. They waved Israeli and American flags.
Speakers at the event accused Mamdani of neglecting the city’s Jewish community and tolerating antisemitism. Speakers included former “Big Time Rush” star James Maslow, artist Scott LoBaido, and Brooke Goldstein, founder of the Lawfare Project. The grassroots group #EndJewHatred organized the rally.
This is not the New York City I knew and loved,
said Ari Ackerman, a businessman and pro-Israel advocate.
Controversy around Mamdani’s leadership arose during his campaign due to his views on Israel and associations with activists.
Since his office term began in January, tensions have escalated with reports of increased antisemitic incidents in the city.
Some rally speakers emphasized that their concerns transcend religious boundaries, focusing on broader implications for American values and public safety. Brooke Goldstein challenged Mamdani’s stance on civil rights and legal protections.
Anila Ali, a prominent speaker and president of the American Muslim & Multifaith Women’s Empowerment Council, highlighted the timing of the protest coinciding with Eid al-Adha, a significant Islamic holiday. She criticized Mamdani’s use of religion to further his agenda.
He’ll condemn a swastika drawn on a building, but he won’t condemn Hezbollah flags and Hamas flags parading around,
stated influencer Zach Sage Fox.
