Joy Behar Clarifies Her Absence from ‘The View’

Joy Behar, co-host of the daytime talk show ‘The View,’ recently addressed rumors surrounding her upcoming absence. On Friday, Behar clarified that her time away should not be labeled as a ‘hiatus.’

Behar had initially revealed during the ‘Behind the Table’ podcast that she would be taking a break from her hosting duties. Producer Brian Teta confirmed her break by stating, ‘This is your last podcast for a little bit, because next week you’re not going to be here.’

Addressing speculations, Behar emphasized that her absence was a planned two-week trip to London for her upcoming play, ‘My First Ex-Husband.’ She stated, ‘I’m working. I have a planned trip overseas next week to work on my play.’ As she announced this, the audience showed their support with cheers.

Further explaining her theatrical commitments, Behar shared details about another play scheduled for the Hamptons, ‘Bonkers in the Boroughs.’

Fellow co-host Sara Haines humorously remarked on the term ‘hiatus,’ stating, ‘That’s a break, people, when you stop working.’ The co-hosts expressed they would miss Behar during her break and encouraged her to share jokes via text.

Behar’s play, ‘My First Ex-Husband,’ is noted as ‘a bold and heartfelt adaptation of true stories by the legendary Joy Behar.’ The play promises to explore love, sex, and relationships with ‘razor-sharp wit and no filters.’ A rotating cast from theater, TV, and film will bring unique personalities to these narratives.
