In Newark, New Jersey, outside the Delaney Hall detention facility, a group organized a logistics and support operation before protests started on a Saturday. Observers noted stockpiles of items like masks, duct tape, medical supplies, sunscreen, hard hats, goggles, and other protective gear neatly arranged in containers and on tables near the protest site.
Participants wore masks, with some wearing respirators and helmets. When asked if they expected serious incidents due to their gear, they did not respond. Video captured in the area showed an individual rushing towards and grabbing the recording device in use by a Fox News Digital reporter.

Approximately 200 anti-ICE demonstrators were present, closely associated with far-left and socialist groups. Opposing them were ICE supporters, including some claiming affiliation with the far-right group, Proud Boys. Delaney Hall has become the epicenter of tension following accusations from illegal immigrant detainees of physical and psychological torture. They alleged a lack of medical care and insufficient food. In response, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) refuted the claims, providing menus showing detainees receive three meals daily, including options like chicken fajitas and Salisbury steak.
After federal agents were targeted in violent clashes earlier, Democratic Governor Mikie Sherrill tasked the New Jersey State Police with overseeing security. This decision aimed to protect demonstrators from what she termed an “ICE surge.” Authorities attributed much of the unrest to external agitators, with State Attorney General Jennifer Davenport noting that five of the six arrested this week were from outside New Jersey.
By Saturday morning, Delaney Hall had become a heavily secured area with large plastic barricades and metal fencing installed.
