Israel and an influential Iranian-backed militant group have been exchanging attacks following an initial ceasefire agreement in April. Despite ongoing negotiations, Hezbollah has not provided any statement regarding the recent agreement.
On June 4, at 3:50 a.m. EDT, just 57 minutes ago, Israel’s ambassador to the United States, Yechiel Leiter, addressed the media outside the State Department. This event followed the Trump administration’s announcement that both Israel and Lebanon consented to enforce a ceasefire, aiming to halt hostilities between the nations.
“Israel and Lebanon agreed Wednesday to implement a ceasefire deal,” according to Israeli officials.
The negotiations occurred at the State Department in Washington. However, a significant party to the ongoing conflict in Lebanon, the powerful militant group Hezbollah, did not partake in the discussions. Lebanon’s government, of which Hezbollah is not a member, was the only participant from Lebanon present at the meeting. As of the announcement, Hezbollah has not issued any comments on the ceasefire agreement.
