Senate to Vote on Immigration Funding Amid Controversy Over Compensation Fund

On Thursday, the Senate is scheduled to vote on a bill that aims to fund federal immigration enforcement agencies for the next three years. This vote follows a delay caused by an unusual rebellion from Republican senators last month.

Before the main vote takes place, senators are expected to engage in a series of votes concerning amendments. These amendments are aiming to block the Trump administration’s initiative to establish a $1.8 billion fund. This fund is intended to compensate individuals who claim they were wrongfully prosecuted or investigated.

Sen. Thom Tillis from North Carolina is among those heading to the Senate chamber on Capitol Hill in Washington to participate in the discussion and votes.
