Tulsi Gabbard announced on X that her husband, Abraham Williams, underwent a seven-hour surgery for a rare bone cancer known as sacral chordoma. Her post shared that the surgery was successful, though her husband remains in pain during recovery at home.

Gabbard is stepping down to support her husband in his battle against the rare form of bone cancer. She informed President Donald Trump in May about her resignation, effective June 30. Her heartfelt post expressed gratitude for prayers and support.

President Trump has appointed Bill Pulte as the acting Director of National Intelligence. Pulte currently leads the Federal Housing Finance Agency and Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac.

Tulsi Gabbard, a U.S. Army Reserve officer, served as a Democrat in Congress before becoming independent and later a Republican. Her resignation letter, obtained by Fox News Digital, expresses gratitude for the opportunity to lead the Office of the Director of National Intelligence.

The letter explains her husband’s diagnosis and her decision to step away from public service to fully support him during his battle with cancer, citing his past support during her deployments and political campaigns.

Trump’s response on Truth Social praises Gabbard’s decision to prioritize her husband’s health. He commends her work and expresses confidence in her husband’s recovery.

A sacral chordoma is a slow-growing cancerous tumor located at the base of the spine. It is a rare bone cancer that can develop in different areas along the spine. The National Cancer Institute provides details about the nature and characteristics of this rare cancer.
