Spurs Triumph in NBA Finals Game 3 Against Knicks

Victor Wembanyama secured his first NBA Finals victory, leading the San Antonio Spurs to a 115-111 win over the New York Knicks. The series stands at 2-1, with the Knicks ahead. Wembanyama tallied 32 points, eight rebounds, and six assists.

Wembanyama’s dynamic performance kept San Antonio’s aspirations alive as they aimed for a historic comeback. Spurs coach Mitch Johnson praised Wembanyama’s motivation and strong performance, which surprised no one.

The Spurs broke the Knicks’ 46-day winning streak and revived their season at Madison Square Garden, where President Donald Trump was among the spectators. Despite being 13 games strong, the Knicks missed the chance to step closer to a championship. Their last defeat was on April 23 to the Atlanta Hawks, before winning three against Atlanta, sweeping Philadelphia and Cleveland, and taking two games from the Spurs.

New York was abuzz with nerves and excitement during the Knicks’ streak. Fans held watch parties, paid high ticket prices, and used “Knicks In Four” as a common greeting. Yet the Spurs halted the streak despite the fervor of the Knicks’ home crowd.

Wembanyama noted the energy difference between home and away games, highlighting the challenge while Coach Mike Brown expressed frustration with the Spurs’ free throw advantage. Brown recognized the Spurs’ talent and coaching, acknowledging the difficulty of securing victory.

With big shots from Stephon Castle and De’Aaron Fox, the Spurs avoided falling into a 3-0 deficit—no NBA team has recovered from such. Now they aim to even the series with Game 4 on Wednesday and Game 5 at home on Saturday.

Jalen Brunson and OG Anunoby contributed significantly for the Knicks, who tried to overcome stretches of poor play and officiating concerns. Madison Square Garden saw long lines and heightened security, echoing a celebrated return of the Finals after 27 years.

Despite a key turnover in Game 2, Wembanyama minimized errors, scoring ten crucial fourth-quarter points. The Spurs started strong, with Wembanyama’s dunks setting the pace. The Knicks regained a lead before half-time, but San Antonio surged back in the third quarter.

Ultimately, the Knicks couldn’t overcome their early fourth-quarter deficit. A star-studded crowd hoped to see them closer to a title. Karl-Anthony Towns and Mikal Bridges faced challenges but remained pivotal in the postseason face-off.
