Republicans Lead in Maine House Race as Democrats Compete

Rep. Jared Golden, representing Maine’s 2nd Congressional District, is vacating his seat. As voters prepare for the election, Republicans show a strong advantage. The Cook Political Report suggests the race is leaning towards the GOP.

President Trump has endorsed former Governor Paul LePage as the Republican candidate. Meanwhile, Democrats are selecting their nominee. The Democratic contenders include State Senator Joe Baldacci, State Auditor Matthew Dunlap, and Jordan Wood, former chief of staff to Rep. Katie Porter.

In Maine’s 1st Congressional District, Democrat Chellie Pingree is running for reelection. Polls for this election close at 8 p.m.
