Lawsuit Challenges Plan for Statues in West Potomac Park

Six local preservation and cultural heritage groups are pushing for a halt on the statue garden project in West Potomac Park. They argue that Congress must first approve the initiative before any work continues.

Recently, West Potomac Park completed a significant seawall restoration. The Trump administration has identified this park as a possible location for the proposed National Garden of American Heroes.

On Monday, a coalition of preservation and cultural heritage organizations in the Washington area filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration. This legal action opposes the plan to transform national parkland by adding a large statuary garden.
