New York Yankees pitcher Cam Schlittler made waves both on and off the field on Friday. The ace delivered a standout performance with 13 strikeouts over six shutout innings, leading to a 5-0 victory against the Cincinnati Reds at Yankee Stadium.

In addition to his on-field achievements, the 25-year-old from Walpole, Massachusetts, gained attention on social media. Schlittler responded to ongoing taunts from a Boston Red Sox fan. This fan, whose social media handle is “Kyle_Lynch11,” had been vocal since last October’s AL Wild Card Game. Despite a stellar outing back then, striking out 12 Red Sox hitters in eight scoreless innings, Schlittler faced persistent criticism from the fan.

Schlittler chose to publicly address the situation by sharing a screen-recorded series of the fan’s comments on his Instagram Story. He humorously captioned the post, “Rent Free,” accompanied by two laughing emojis. The animosity began with the fan labeling Schlittler a “clown.” The messages persisted across several months, culminating in personal insults.

In reaction to seeing one of Schlittler’s outfits, the fan responded with vomit emojis. Schlittler finally replied, stating, “Stop glazing lil bro.” The fan continued with the insults, predicting a poor performance against the Reds, which proved inaccurate.

Schlittler dominated the Reds, lowering his American League-leading ERA to an impressive 1.71. His season stats now stand at 8-3 with 109 strikeouts over 95 innings. His powerful combination of fastball, sinker, and cutter continues to overpower hitters.

Despite this exchange, Schlittler remarked that the comments he and his family received in the past also included more serious threats.
