The Ocala Police Department in Florida has gained significant attention by launching a social media campaign. The initiative aims to enhance recruitment efforts while also building a stronger connection with the local community.
During an appearance on ‘Fox & Friends Weekend,’ officers discussed the campaign’s success, which has highlighted the personal side of law enforcement. Officer Sean Price commented on the impact of social media in reshaping the department’s image, especially since 2020. ‘Social media can shine a positive light on the police department,’ he remarked, emphasizing the importance of showcasing officers’ personalities.

Recently, the department posted a video as part of the “We Do” campaign, featuring Usher’s song “Daddy’s Home.” The video humorously depicts officers in common dating scenarios while performing their duties. It poses questions like “Does he open your door?” paired with an officer escorting someone into a patrol car. This effort has resulted in over 19 million views on Facebook.
Corporal Alexandria Blackman noted the positive reception, saying it helps the community see a lighter side of the officers. Officer Price echoed these thoughts, expressing hope that the campaign’s positive attention would lead to more applications.
Officer Clayton Brown shared advice for potential recruits, emphasizing the importance of having a clear reason for entering the profession. ‘You have to be able to see both sides of things,’ he stated, encouraging those with a desire to help the community to consider joining.
