An American Airlines flight experienced a chaotic situation on Sunday morning. A passenger was accused of biting another traveler and attempting to fight others onboard. The incident occurred as Flight 3046, which departed from Charlotte, North Carolina, approached Philadelphia International Airport.
An audio recording, reviewed by Fox News Digital, captured the pilot communicating with air traffic control about the escalating issue. The pilot informed controllers, ‘He just bit a passenger, and he’s trying to fight everybody.’
The flight crew requested police and emergency medical teams to meet the aircraft upon landing. Although the pilot was unsure of the incident’s trigger, he speculated the passenger could be facing a mental health crisis. Law enforcement assistance was deemed necessary to support EMTs as a precaution.
‘Can you pass along, we need EMTs as well as law enforcement,’ the pilot communicated. ‘I don’t know… if he’s hallucinating.’
American Airlines confirmed the passenger had a medical emergency. A medical professional onboard assisted before landing, and additional personnel met the passenger on arrival at the gate.
The airline acknowledged the efforts of their team members and the onboard medical professional. They stated, ‘Medical personnel met American Airlines flight 3046 at the gate for a customer experiencing a medical emergency. We appreciate the actions of our team members and the medical professional on board who assisted the customer as the flight arrived safely at Philadelphia (PHL).’ The exchange between the pilot and air traffic controller concluded on a lighter note, with well wishes for Father’s Day.
