Sarah Shahi Reflects on Memorable Scene with James Gandolfini

Sarah Shahi shared insights about her intimate scene with “Sopranos” actor James Gandolfini during an appearance on the “Bossticks” podcast. Describing their on-screen kiss, Shahi confessed it ranked among the best she has experienced. Initially skeptical of being attracted to Gandolfini, she found the moment surprisingly effective.

Shahi, known for her brief role on “The Sopranos,” described a scene involving mushrooms before a passionate kiss with Gandolfini. The actress recalled, “He’s a very method actor, and he wanted props for authenticity. They used dehydrated mushrooms with added spice to provoke a reaction.” The scene required several takes, and Shahi noted, “Even after they called ‘cut,’ we were still caught up in the moment.”

Playing Sonya Aragon, a stripper and college student involved with Christopher Moltisanti, Shahi appeared on the show in its sixth season in 2007. Gandolfini, who played Tony Soprano, passed away unexpectedly in June 2013 at age 51 from a heart attack while in Rome.
