Todd Blanche Criticizes Illinois Governor’s Rejection of Federal Aid Amid Chicago Violence

Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche criticized Illinois Governor JB Pritzker for allegedly declining federal assistance in tackling Chicago’s escalating violence. Blanche highlighted the grave situation, citing eight deaths and numerous injuries over a weekend, contrasting these events with successful crime reduction in Washington, D.C., and Memphis. The need for coordinated local and federal efforts was stressed as essential to curb the violence.

In related news, an 18-year-old suspect, Bradley Scott Sayer, was charged with a shooting incident in a Northern California library. This attack resulted in two fatalities and is linked to influences from past mass shootings like Columbine. Following the attack, law enforcement quickly responded and arrested Sayer, who had previously conducted a walkthrough of the building before retrieving a shotgun from his vehicle.

The tragedy unfolded at the Chico branch of the Butte County Library, where Sayer opened fire, resulting in the deaths of Jacob Hull, 46, and Robert Johnson, 74. An underage girl also sustained injuries and received hospital care. Police Chief Billy Aldridge noted that the rapid police response likely prevented further casualties.

Authorities discovered additional firearms in Sayer’s car, sparking an investigation into their procurement. The suspect, who had a social media obsession with the 1999 Columbine shooting, wore a T-shirt echoing one worn by the Columbine shooter during the attack.

Sayer awaits arraignment, with details emerging about his recent high school graduation. His actions have raised significant concerns about influences on youth related to glorified violence in past mass shootings.
