In the Round of 32, Portugal faces Croatia. Croatia boasts technically skilled and experienced players. While not as dominant as in 2018, they remain a formidable opponent. If Portugal advances, they might encounter Spain, who are tournament favorites. Spain rebounded from a 0-0 start against Cape Verde, now playing strong defense alongside Mexico.
Further advancing would likely mean facing Belgium or the United States. These matchups present hurdles before possibly reaching semifinals against teams like France, Germany, or the Netherlands. Portugal showed vulnerability against Colombia, and now they have one of the most challenging schedules.
Had Portugal topped Group K, they would be facing Ghana and then possibly Switzerland—an easier path. Portugal’s road ahead is daunting, demanding great resilience from the team.
