First and foremost, our thoughts are with every family, business owner, rancher, and resident who has been affected by the Aspen Acres Fire, said Lucero. We know this is an incredibly stressful and emotional time. Many have evacuated, uncertain of what they may find upon returning. Our community’s safety and well-being are our highest priority.

Response Efforts

Eight air tankers are among the aerial aircraft battling the blaze. Currently, the cause of the fire is unknown. One firefighter sustained injuries while fighting the fire, but no other injuries have been reported.

Beulah resident Zakary Bruce shared his experience, stating that he evacuated quickly as the fire spread. Later, he received news from his neighbor that his home was completely destroyed.

The house, the land, my old car, and even the guest cabin and shop, all demolished, either by the blaze or the propane tank exploding from the heat and cinders, Bruce reported. Everything in that house, reduced to metal slag or ashes. Years of memories, gone in 30 minutes.

Other Wildfires in Colorado

The Aspen Acres Fire is one of nine significant wildfires in Colorado. The Big Sheep Fire, located in Huerfano County, has burned more than 1,100 acres, according to the governor’s office.
