Pro-Peace Message and Proposal at Empire State Building

On Wednesday afternoon, two individuals climbed to the top of the Empire State Building in New York City. They unfurled a banner advocating for peace and appeared to share a kiss. This daring duo, a man and a woman, wore dark clothing and masks. Their banner proclaimed, “When the power of love beats the love of power, the world knows peace.”

In a striking moment, the man knelt as if proposing to the woman. They embraced and kissed while NBC New York’s helicopters hovered above. After descending the skyscraper, both were taken into custody by the New York City Police Department, as reported by spokeswoman Delaney Kempner.

The couple was seen atop the Empire State Building’s spire, which stands 200 feet tall on the 1,250-foot structure, the sixth-tallest in the United States. It remains unknown how they reached this prominent landmark.

In radio audio reviewed by NBC News, a voice questions the commotion. Someone explains: “Geniuses climbed to the top of the Empire State Building, the top of the spire.” Another voice responds: “A little hot for that, isn’t it?”

This event unfolded as New York City welcomed an influx of visitors for World Cup matches and the July Fourth events. Additionally, the city braced for a potential high-profile wedding at Madison Square Garden.
