Trump Proposes Presidential Reunion for a Football Viewing at the White House

Former President Donald Trump shared an idea during the “Storytime with the Second Lady” podcast: inviting former presidents to the White House for a football game. As he paged through a book showing a president hosting a Super Bowl event, he mentioned this proposal to second lady Usha Vance.

“Maybe I should invite Barack Hussein Obama, Joe Biden, with the Bushes — or Bush. Maybe I should invite some of those people to watch a football game together,” he suggested. “Wouldn’t that be a nice story? The press would go wild.”

Usha Vance, wife of Vice President JD Vance, hosts this podcast. She interviews guests who narrate children’s books on YouTube. Guests have included figures like race car driver Danica Patrick and the Artemis II astronauts. Recently, Trump himself was a guest.

Trump narrated from “Presidents Play!”, a book by the White House Historical Association about presidents’ pastimes. Instead of reading the text directly, Trump offered light-hearted comments on various past presidents, such as William Howard Taft enjoying baseball.

“He was a large man, very large. And he loved baseball. He’d go to baseball games, loved the hot dogs at the baseball games. He was our heaviest president, and I have to be careful ’cause I don’t want to supersede his record,” Trump noted humorously.

He prompted listeners to stay fit. Referring to another page, Trump discussed former President Bill Clinton’s jogging track at the White House.

“That’s nice. I didn’t even know that until recently, but he had a track built at the White House. I don’t think I’ll ever do that. I like Bill Clinton a lot. I still do,” he remarked.

Though Trump praised Clinton, he was not invited to Obama’s presidential center grand opening where Biden, Clinton, and George W. Bush attended. Despite the tension between Obama and Trump, he suggested Obama would also make a fun guest at such a White House reunion.

The podcast has become a platform where guests add narrative flair to historical tales, illustrating the varied interests and personalities of American leaders.
