New App Launches to Track Fourth of July Aerial Flyovers

On the eve of Independence Day, a new app was introduced to help Americans keep track of the grand aerial flyovers in Washington, D.C. The ‘4th of July Fly Over’ app, developed by senior White House official Shawn Chittle, aims to serve as an informative guide for those watching the festivities along the National Mall and Washington Monument grounds.

The app comes equipped with an adjustable countdown timer in sync with the official event schedule. Announced on July 3, it allows users to manually adjust the timer to track the fast-moving aerial acts, ensuring spectators can view which aircraft will be flying next.

In addition to the real-time data, users have access to photos, historical context, and essential information about the aircraft participating in the event. This tool is particularly useful for navigating the ‘Freedom 250’ schedule, which includes over nine hours of demonstrations. Real-time flight data corresponds with the air show schedule to enhance the viewing experience.

The aerial display kicks off at 1:14 p.m. local time with a NASA F-5 flyover. It then features multiple fleet reviews by the Coast Guard, Army, Air Force, Marines, and Navy. Later in the afternoon, popular performances include the Navy Blue Angels at 4:59 p.m. and the Air Force Thunderbirds at 6:25 p.m.

At around 7 p.m., Air Force One will make its appearance, succeeded by the newly renovated Air Force One involved in the ‘HUGE 1’ flyover at 7:17 p.m. The evening offers more thrilling displays with a U.S. Stealth Airpower flyover at 7:38 p.m., an F-22 Raptor afterburner exhibit at 7:53 p.m., and B-1 bomber afterburners at 8:07 p.m.

For those staying until the end, a spectacular B-1 afterburner night pass will illuminate the sky at 10:36 p.m. Spectators are encouraged to bookmark the app or add it to their mobile home screens for quick access, ensuring they capture every moment of this patriotic exhibition.
