Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce celebrated their wedding at Madison Square Garden on Friday. To mark the occasion, a New York City landmark joined in the celebration. The Empire State Building lit up in light blue on Friday night. Its official website noted the color was “in celebration of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding at Madison Square Garden.”
On social media platform X, the building’s team posted “Her something blue,” referencing the traditional wedding rhyme “something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.” The wedding venue, Madison Square Garden, featured jumbotrons displaying the message “JUST&T MARRIED!” The phrasing “JUST&T MARRIED!” is a play on their initials, T&T for Taylor and Travis, shown prominently outside the location.
The New York City Police Department maintained strict security around Madison Square Garden. Streets were closed with barricades and extra officers patrolled the area. Despite this, eager fans gathered in significant numbers to catch a glimpse of the celebration.
“I couldn’t get tickets for the Eras Tour, so this is the closest I’ve been,” said Chloe Stanley, a tourist from the United Kingdom.
Lindsay Perrin traveled from Indianapolis with her children to join the festivities. “We drove 12 hours to be here for the celebrations,” she said. To her, this event was akin to a royal wedding and one they were eager not to miss. Although her children felt the heat of the 100-degree weather, Perrin believed they would cherish the memory of being near Madison Square Garden during such a momentous event.
Among the fans, Hanna Daidal traveled from Europe, motivated to join the festivities at the last moment. “It was last minute on Friday. I just knew that Taylor Swift was getting married, and on Sunday, I was taking the flight to here,” she shared.
The wedding reception was expected to continue throughout the night and into the early hours of Saturday morning, according to sources from CBS News.
