Veteran pass rusher Von Miller signed a one-year contract with the Washington Commanders before the start of the 2025 NFL season. At the same time, he had an offer from the Seattle Seahawks, who eventually captured the Super Bowl title.
While the Seahawks succeeded, Miller’s decision to join the Commanders resulted in a disappointing season, as they missed the playoffs with a mere five wins. In a recent episode of the ’89’ podcast hosted by Steve Smith and James Palmer, Miller candidly shared his thoughts on his choice in free agency.
Obviously, I picked the wrong team on that one,”Miller stated.
Miller believed he was aligning himself with a team poised for a potential Super Bowl run. His optimism was bolstered by the Commanders’ performance the previous year when rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels led them to the NFC Championship game. Meanwhile, the Seahawks struggled and failed to make the playoffs in 2024.
Speaking to ProFootballTalk, Miller expressed his reasoning: “For me, with the Washington Commanders, I just felt like Jayden Daniels was poised for another great season. His rookie season went all the way to the NFC Championship, and last year, he got hit with injuries, not just at the quarterback position, but all over the place. And those are some of the things that you just can’t calculate on teams,” he said.
Now 37, Miller remains an unsigned free agent as the 2026 NFL season approaches.
