A tragic incident occurred involving a crewmember from the Regal Princess cruise ship, which departed from Fort Lauderdale, Florida’s Port Everglades. The individual went overboard near Cancún.
The cruise ship, which left port on Saturday, continued its voyage after the incident. The company did not disclose the identity of the deceased crewmember but expressed condolences.
“Our heartfelt condolences go out to the crew’s family and friends during this difficult time. Grief support services are being offered to guests and crew members affected by this event,” the company stated.
The cruise line appreciated the assistance of local authorities and the crew from the Carnival Jubilee who contributed to the search and rescue operations. The Regal Princess has resumed its journey and is set to visit Belize on Tuesday, continuing its seven-day itinerary.
The cruise is scheduled to return to Fort Lauderdale on Saturday as planned.
