Mary “Tracy” Morrison, the school’s founder, led a group session where a student was attacked by classmates and hit by Morrison herself, prompting complaints and her eventual arrest.

Despite Morrison’s jail term, the school continues to receive public funds from Arkansas. The Delta Institute remains operational even after incidents of abuse were recorded.

Families can use state funds for private school tuition through Arkansas’ Education Freedom Account program. The lack of regulatory oversight has led to a rapid increase in private schools. However, most students using these funds had not attended public schools previously.

Even after the abuse cases came to light, complaints continue to arise regarding the Delta Institute and other similar private schools. Current state law does not stop Morrison from owning or being involved with another school. The school has recently rebranded but remains under scrutiny.
