Theo Stamos, a seasoned prosecutor in Virginia, has been selected as the acting U.S. attorney in a Virginia office facing significant changes. Her appointment comes after the office experienced challenges due to the investigative efforts encouraged by President Donald Trump.
Stamos has a strong background in Virginia’s legal system. She was elected twice as the commonwealth’s attorney for Arlington County and Falls Church. Following her elected roles, she served as a top adviser to Republican Attorney General Jason S. Miyares. Her experience in the Arlington Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office has prepared her for her new responsibilities.
The Justice Department’s decision on Wednesday to appoint Stamos aims to bring stability and leadership to the office. Recent staff turnover has created a need for a firm hand to guide the office through the ongoing challenges.
